    One-of-a-Kind.... Don't Miss This One...!!!
This early 1970s illusion pattern genuine rug was given to a former secreatary of the US Ambassaodr to South Africa several decades ago. I acquired it directly from her estate. From the 1940s and well into the early 1970s when  weavers were looking for patterns relevant to those interesting times, the artwork of M.C.Escher inspired some  weavers to create what is known as  pattern weavings. This piece is even more unusual, and rare, in that it combines the earliest traditional (late 1800s) simple vertical bars or banding done in the original natural cream (white) of the wool along with (dyed) black which w\.. I have included an image of one 1921 Escher drawing which could have been a possible influence (last photo).
This rug dates back to the years of the late 1960s to early 1970s - it could be older, but that is the date period when it was gifted to its former owner... It has been vd maintained. Generally these older rugs or weavings are smaller sized than this one, actually saddle blanket sized, about 1/2 to 2/3 this one's size....!!  Only all natural,  formulated
    dyes
were used, and the colors black and gray were the original rug colors from the 19th century before they got into all the color palettes they developed in the 20th century....

    -
Thank You to my, good, former customers in Mexico
    - Sorry for any inconvenience..!!
eBay's fees are very expensive and you can help me keep costs down  by giving top numbers in detailed seller ratings (DSRs). If you feel there is a problem just let me know before you leave feedback so I have a chance to resolve any issue. NM sales tax will be charged to New Mexico residents only.
I will gladly combine on the shipping but please WAIT to pay so I can easily combine your shipping total. I will happily sell overseas, but I insist (as does eBay) on shipping with a tracking number of some sort via priority or express.
I will not declare a lower amount on the customs form! Please do not ask me to do so.
I welcome buyers from all over the world. Thank you for looking!
