. Using the system for extended periods of time, could lead to early coil burnout which may void the system's warranty. Limiting the use of the system to once per day is also a safe, recommended frequency of treatment as it allows your skin to properly process and benefit from the high frequency stimulus. Using the system more frequently, will not provide any incremental benefit.
What Products Do I Use With It?
A special conductive gel is not required during high frequency treatment. Instead, we recommend that you use your favorite cream, lotion or serum in conjunction with your high frequency treatment. While most topicals simply sit on top of the skin, the exfoliating and deeply penetrating warming action of high frequency current will greatly maximize the effectiveness of your favorite products by driving them deeper below your skin during treatment so that they can work their magic!
Those with acne concerns should apply their acne topical directly following high frequency treatment followed by our Organic Hyaluronic Serum over top, especially if redness, dryness or irritation is present.
How Does It Work?
Interchangeable Electrodes Provide Targeted Treatment
The machine includes a full set of interchangeable electrodes available in your color choice of either orange (neon gas) or violet (argon gas). The system may be used used with both colors interchangeably. Those wishing to mix and match colors, may purchase additional electrodes separately. Traditionally, orange has been used to treat aging skin and violet to treat acne-prone skin types however we have found both electrode types to be equally effective in treating a range of skin concerns. The color of the electrode set is simply a matter of personal preference. It is important to note that the violet electrodes DO NOT produce harmful UV rays! Optimal High Frequency Current Promotes Superior Rejuvenation and Clarification
The electrodes work in concert with the high frequency electrical current generated by the machine to help achieve optimal clarification and rejuvenation results. When touched to the skin, the electrodes will produce a subtle glow as well as skin purifying, enriched oxygen molecules. Orange vs. Violet Electrodes
The Jellen Portable High Frequency Machine comes with 3 high frequency electrodes in your choice of either orange or violet. Unfortunately, it is not possible to mix and match electrode sizes and colors as each system comes pre-packaged with either the violet or orange electrodes (not both). The electrodes are filled with either 1) argon gas which produces a blue or violet glow, or 2) neon gas which produces a reddish or neon orange glow. Traditionally, violet (argon) electrodes have been used by skin care professionals to treat acne prone skin. It is important to note that the violet electrodes do not in any way, produce harmful UV rays as the light that they emit does not fall within the skin damaging ultraviolet spectrum. The orange (neon) electrodes are generally used to treat aging skin because they are said to direct more warmth to the treatment area which improves product penetration, promotes blood circulation and encourages cellular turnover. For the treatment of thinning hair and to promote healthier scalp conditions, we recommend using the violet electrodes to cleanse the area and rid of follicle blocking bacteria and the orange electrodes to promote blood circulation.

**A note about ideal wattage levels:
The power level and output strength of a high frequency machine is measured by the high frequency oscillation rate (measured in Hertz) rather than watts and amps. Portable high frequency machines operating at a LOWER wattage level (less than 10 watts) are generally higher quality systems, more efficient at producing a high frequency current and will last much longer than much higher wattage, more inexpensively manufactured units. Portable high frequency machines operating at HIGH levels of wattage (10+ watts) have to work
harder
to generate the same electrical current output and are more prone to to internal damage and early coil burnout due to overheating.
