RARE 16" Vintage De Sela Angel Mexico Paper Papier Mache Flower Mexican Folk Art

You are bidding on an exceptional
LARGE 16" Vintage Paper Mache Angel signed by artist De Sela
in lightly cleaned, as found condition.
Beautiful folk art woman with a serene hand painted expression, brown hair and brown eyes.
She is dressed in gold gown with red and green flowers, swirling braided metal piping, and has a matching red flower in her hair.
Her large wings are also piped in braided metal wire.
Her body consists of two pieces - feels like paper mache over styrofoam - at slightly opposing angles, giving her the appearance of a graceful forward, right bend.
Her hands are in prayer in front of her. They would have surrounded a taper candle.
The signature "De Sela" is in black at the bottom of her gown.
The base has the original green felt.
Measures an impressive 16" tall, 9 1/2" wide, 6" deep.
Condition is very good. All pieces are intact. There is some bubbling of the paint on her head that gives these areas an opaque look. The bottom of her left wing is worn and lost the gold paint at the very tip. Otherwise paint looks bright, shiny, vivid. There is no other apparent significant paint loss, chips, or cracks.
A magnificent piece. Circa 1960's.
