    Description

From the British of "Mr. Kipling's Army" to the Cubans in Angola, the hardy Springboks of the old SADF earned the respect of every adversary they faced. Their uniforms evolved to meet the rigors of local warfare, in combat ranging from dusty veldt to trackless jungle. Their "nutria" brown fielddress of the 1980s quickly became symbolic of the hard fighting South African "troopie" of the border war. In summer and winter the daytime temperatures in Angola were exceedingly hot, but at night in winter temperatures plummeted to near zero. Seasoned combat veterans prized their field jackets for added warmth out in the bush. This South African SADF Angola Border War NUTRIA BROWN FIELD JACKET is in excellent condition, with a pinhole in the left chest pocket body, some loose threading to the left chest pocket button, some light loose threading to many of the buttons throughout, and with some light scattered wrinkling, whitish spot soiling, and age wear evident (ALL pictured). Otherwise, the jacket is in excellent shape, with no other damage to the crisp nutria brown 100% cotton construction. Most interestingly, it's a Size X-Large, features 4 flap covered button closure front pockets, brown nylon front waist and hem drawcords, sewn elbow reinforcements, and button cuff and shoulder straps, and is dated "1984" on the original "MARBURG MNFRS / JACKET FIELDDRESS" maker/nomenclature tag at the inside neck. It sports all of the original flat rimmed brown plastic buttons throughout, and is a beautiful example of a rare, original South African SADF Angola Border War NUTRIA BROWN FIELD JACKET. Now celebrating over 20 years on eBay.
