Mexican Talavera began in the 16th century. As the Spanish colonization of Mexico was underway, so too was the inception of what would soon be known as Mexican Talavera. After founding the city of Puebla, Spanish monks and artisans from Talavera de la Reina began sharing new techniques with local natives to enhance their pottery and ceramic skills. The introduction of the potter's wheel and tin-glazing, along with new colors and patterns, helped blend centuries of indigenous craftsmanship with the fine-tuned styles of European, Asian and Arab pottery and ceramics. As a result, the unmistakable beauty and quality of Mexican Talavera was born.
It didn't take long for standards and regulations to be set for Mexican Talavera. In order to protect and preserve their product, potters' guilds were created and the fame of their craftsmanship began to spread. Churches and monasteries were decorated with vibrant Talavera tiles, jars and religious figures. Soon the high demand for these ceramics grew well beyond Mexico, as Talavera began to be exported back to Europe as well as other regions of the world.
The demand for authentic Mexican Talavera continues to this day and can be seen throughout the United States, most notably in the Southwest.  Talavera tiles
are used in homes and businesses, meals are enjoyed on
Talavera plates, place settings, Talavera planters and vases
commonly adorn homes. Whatever the use, Talavera's rich history and cultural importance continues to live on in every handmade piece.

Each item is personally selected by me and is held in inventory at my Store in the US (not drop-shipped).  Item shown is the actual or similar item you will receive.  Made in Mexico and Hand Painted.  The color of the items can vary from green, dark green, blue or black.   Most products are handcrafted one at a time. It is therefore very rare to create identical items. Homemade pieces are a creation of artisans, and based on different craft styles that are centuries old. There may be natural blemishes/variations that are not product flaws. Such variations are inherent in the manufacturing of handmade products, so you may find minor distinctions that make your buys special and truly one-of-a-kind.
Shipping Policy
You pay the actual shipping costs.  No additional costs are added to your shipping.  Shipping prices are determined by the weight of the package and the distance it has to travel from our store.  If multiply items are purchased separately, we will do our best to combine shipping and issue a shipping refund back to you. Requests for specific shipping additions ( i.e. next day, three day air, signature required) can be accommodated for an additional charge to the customer.  We normally ship via UPS, USPS or FedEx.  Due to the changing prices of the shipping costs we may occasionally change the shipping carrier other than that stated in the listing.  There is no signature required unless specified.
Shipping Damage
Any items received damaged due to shipping will be replaced or refunded. Please send pictures and keep box with all shipping materials.  Be sure to contact me within 24 hours.
