    Description

Vintage, beautiful indigo ikat dyed textile by the Baule people of the Ivory Coast and Ghana. 10 very soft, medium weight, tightly handwoven strips sewn together, showing alternating white ikat lines of various lengths woven in solid blue; bright pink stripes separating the strips; small lines and squares of embroidery in pink, white and green at either end. The Baule are only one of two peoples in West Africa that do ikat dyeing of their weaving thread.
40” x 56”. Clean, has been washed, will not bleed. Excellent condition: seams tight except for one small area of one seam that has been resewn; fringed ends with a crochet line to prevent unraveling; fringe at either end is in excellent condition.
