    Description

Vintage, hard to find indigo ikat dyed textile by the Baule people of the Ivory Coast and Ghana. 10 soft, tightly handwoven strips sewn together with a great graphic stepped pattern of blue, white, light green and peach lines, diamond patterns at each end, and small areas of colored embroidery rectangles
. The Baule are only one of two peoples in West Africa that do ikat dyeing of their weaving thread.
40” x 60”.  Excellent condition: no seam opening, wear, damage, spotting, or any problems that I can see; e
nds of piece have horizontal stitching to prevent unraveling; fringe at either end in good condition.
