    Description

This is an old African (Congolese) Tribal Kuba Cloth from Congo (formerly Zaire). This piece is handwoven (a bit irregular shape that measures approximately 20" x 19"). It is a very supple piece made from Raffia fiber that may have been used as ceremonial cloth (skirt) and/or used as currency cloth to trade for other items. I purchased this in Africa from a Congolese person. While I have worked in Congo (formerly Zaire) back in 1988 and have seen these cloth pieces, I don't know the exact age of it. I was told it is old but I am guessing (no guarantee) it is from the 1960s. In very good condition for its age...does have some minor wear as you would expect from a vintage piece. Please see pictures for more details about the condition and quality. Ask if you have any questions.  Thanks for looking.
