Antique Wash BasinEpsom Pattern
Minton's Ltd.
Stoke-On-Trent, England
Up for auction is an antique wash basin in the Epsom pattern, produced in 1908. The wash basin has olive green on bone white china transferware. The pattern is a neo-classical design, featuring Greek keys, ribbons and bows, and trumpet floral garland with swags and vertical drops. The heavy, large basin stands approximately 5 inches tall, and its top diameter measures approximately 16.5 inches across. The Mintons trademark is stamped onto the bottom of the piece, in olive green. Minton's was a major ceramics manufacturing company, founded by Thomas Minton, and producing pottery from 1765 until 1836, in Stoke-On-Trent, Staffordshire, England.
The wash basin is in great, vintage condition, with no cracks, scratches, repairs, stains or discoloration that I can detect. However, there are three areas along the outer rim of the basin where there is no glaze, which would have occurred during the firing of the piece, due to the ceramic rests in the kiln supporting the bowl. There is also a brown blemish or stone, underneath the glaze, along the edge of the rim. In addition, there are two shallow chips along the base of the bowl.

Please note that all items being sold come from a smoke-free and pet-free home. I am not a professional dealer, and am simply downsizing after years of collecting. I try very hard to accurately list and describe the condition of each item that I sell, and can appreciate the frustration of receiving an item that is not as described. Being human, I will occasionally make a mistake, and may miss a flaw or imperfection that would leave one dissatisfied with their purchase. If this occurs, and you feel that the item you receive is not as described, please contact me immediately. My goal is that each individual who buys from me is happy with their purchase.
