    From research:
"The Italian papier mache artist Gemma Taccogna had quite an impact on the fashion world of 1950's New York including custom designs for Mr. John's widely successful millinery boutique and creations for store windows at Saks Fifth Avenue, Lord & Taylor and Neiman Marcus. Her heads were used as displays and her whimsical feminine creations were sold to design houses such as Nina Ricci and Schiaparelli. After marrying in 1954, she moved to Mexico and operated a highly successful studio where she continued to supply art work for store displays and found her pieces in the private collections of everyone from celebrities to art collectors such as Peggy Guggenheim.
