Vintage Mexican Pottery Muneca Doll Signed Irene Aguilar
Artes Folklorico presents a vintage Mexican ceramic pottery ‘Muneca’ doll by the celebrated master potter, Irene Aquilar, from Ocotlan de Morelos, Oaxaca, Mexico.
She has won numerous ceramic awards and her pieces are in folk art museums throughout North America.
The piece up for auction features a beautiful young woman with a colossal headdress of flowers around her head. The doll could have been a tribute to Frida Kahlo.  The sculpture is signed on the back, ‘Irene A.’
The sculpture is in very good condition with only a few tiny imperfections here and there (see photographs).
The Muneca Doll is quite large (and heavy) measuring 13-1/2 inches in height, 5-1/2 inches in width and 4-1/2 inches in depth.
