Vntg Silverplate Trinket Box Provenance Charles H. Percy Illinois U.S. Senator

Vintage silverplate box with hinged lid and dedication to (or from?) Charles H. Percy
dated 1954
Charles H. Percy was an Illinois U.S. senator and also a presidential hopeful.
We are not sure if this was given to Percy or was something Percy gave to someone.
If anyone has more information, we welcome it.
The box is 4 3/4" x 3 1/4" x 1 3/8" tall including the ball feet. It weighs 10 oz. unboxed.
It has a hinged lid and is wood lined. The inscription is inside the lid; there is a hallmark on the bottom and an insignia (or another hallmark?) on the top of the lid.
In good to very good vintage preowned condition; light scratches and surface wear from handling and use, a few tiny dings on the lid, but all in all quite good given its age. It is sturdy and relatively heavy, a nice feel in the hand. Would make a great place for a collection.
