    Description

    Gorgeous Saint Francis Statue
    Tall- 11 3/4"
    Wide- 4" (at shoulders)
    Base- 2 3/4" x 4"
Francis of Assisi, patron saint of animals and ecology, was born in Italy around 1181-1182. After a wild youth and a brief career as a soldier, Francis had a conversion experience that inspired him to renounce his family's wealth and devote his life to God.
Francis of Assisi, venerated as Saint Francis of Assisi, also known in his ministry as Francesco, was an Italian Catholic friar, deacon, philosopher, mystic, and preacher. He founded the men's Order of Friars Minor, the women's Order of Saint Clare, the Third Order of Saint Francis and the Custody of the Holy Land.
This beautiful statue of St. Francis has hand tooled Milagros/Charms on his habit.
This saint is made by Jose Antonio Mejia Ornelas, along with his sons and daughters.
The shop is on the road going outside of Patzquaro, Mexico.
All the wood Saints are hand carved and hand painted. Each statue is slightly different in height due to each family member making them.
The Milagros are never the same, since each is indivually hand hammered on to the saint.
Wonderful gift for your self or for someone special.
